PR168 in DIN rail enclosure, front three-quarter view

PWM to 0-10 V signal conditioner, isolated input

Article number PR168

The PR168 converts a PWM signal into a 0-10 V analogue signal. The input is galvanically isolated from the output and the supply: this prevents ground loops, and the module reads both high-side and low-side switched PWM signals. DIP switches S1 and S2 select a PWM level of 3.3, 5, 12 or 24 V; the Gain adj trimmer adjusts the upper limit of the output. As delivered, 0 % duty cycle gives 0 V and 100 % duty cycle gives 10 V, for a 24 V PWM signal.

  • Supply 12 to 24 V DC
  • Input PWM, 3.3 to 24 V; level 3.3, 5, 12 or 24 V selected with DIP switches S1 and S2
  • Output 0-10 V as delivered, 11 V max.; upper limit adjustable

Setup

  1. Disconnect the PWM signal before changing the DIP switches, to avoid damaging the module.
  2. Select the input level with S1 and S2: 3.3 V = S1 on, S2 on; 5 V = S1 off, S2 on; 12 V = S1 on, S2 off; 24 V = S1 off, S2 off.
  3. Connect the module according to the terminal table and switch on the supply.
  4. Bring the input to the level at which you want 10 V, for example 60 % duty cycle.
  5. Turn the Gain adj trimmer until the output reaches the required level. Check with a multimeter if necessary.

Application

  • Converting a high-side or low-side switched PWM signal to 0-10 V
  • Preventing ground loops between a PWM source and a 0-10 V input
