PR181 module with PWM output and heat sink in DIN rail enclosure, front three-quarter view

Isolated digital input to PWM signal conditioner, high-side switched, with display

Article number PR181-X075

The PR181-X075 uses one galvanically isolated digital input to drive a high-side switched PWM output of up to 4 A. The input signal is 20 to 50 V. When the input is active, the output gets the duty cycle from the Input 1 PWM out menu; when it is not active, the duty cycle from Output PWM min (both 0 % as delivered). Rise and fall rate and PWM frequency are set on the display.

  • Supply 9 to 30 V DC
  • Input 20 to 50 V digital input, on terminal 3 (minus) and terminal 4 (plus)
  • Output PWM, high-side switched, on terminal 6; duty cycle with active and inactive input adjustable

Setup

  1. Connect the module according to the terminal table, with the supply plus on terminal 1 and terminal 7 and the input signal on terminals 4 and 3, and switch on the supply.
  2. In the menu, select Input 1 PWM out and use UP and DOWN to set the duty cycle the output gets when the input is active. Confirm with OK.
  3. Select Output PWM min and set, in the same way, the duty cycle the output gets when the input is not active. This value can never exceed Input 1 PWM out.
  4. If required, set the rise and fall rate with Ramp up and Ramp down, and the PWM frequency with PWM frequency.
  5. Go to the SAVE menu to store the new settings.

Application

  • Driving motors, pumps, valves and hydraulics smoothly with the adjustable rise and fall rate

PR181 series: signal conditioners with display

The modules in the PR181 series are set up on the display on the module, using the UP, DOWN and OK buttons. On most versions the lower and upper limits of input and output are set independently, as is the rise and fall rate of the output; the settings of each module are listed on the product page under Setup. With an adjustable rise and fall rate, motors, pumps, valves and hydraulics can be driven smoothly. On versions with an analogue output, that output is galvanically isolated from input and supply to prevent ground loops. New settings are stored through the SAVE menu. The standard DIN rail enclosure measures 45 x 83 mm (board 42.6 x 72 mm); versions with more terminals are wider. Most modules run on 9 to 30 V DC at -25 to 55 °C, non-condensing.

For some conversions there is also a version without display and without galvanic isolation in the PR100 series: it is set up with push buttons and runs on 12 and 24 V DC (operating range 11 to 30 V DC). Where one exists, it is listed on the product page under Other version.
