Complete sub-assembly

From idea to closed box: the control unit for special vehicles

A climate specialist knew exactly what his controller had to do, but not how. Now the unit arrives complete: board, software, cables, tested. Click it in and done.

Situation

Our customer, a specialist in cooling and heating systems for special vehicles, had been supplying many systems for years, but could not find the controller that would take his product to the next level. He knew exactly what it had to do, not what the electronics should look like.

Solution

We designed a 230 V AC board with an integrated step-down supply to 24 V, an ECU, a PID controller and a temperature sensor. Relay contacts switch high-power heaters and the coolers, and a PWM controller drives the hydraulic valves. The software is handled entirely by us, including a hotspot that lets the installer configure the system easily and see its status in real time. The customer can update the software himself for end customers who want something different.

After the prototype we chose a standard, widely available junction box from a well-known brand and made the board to fit it exactly. We made the cables with simple connectors, taped to automotive requirements, with splitters and special 230 V AC connections. At the customer it only has to be clicked into place.

Result

We supply the unit complete: board in the enclosure, wires pre-fitted, software loaded, functionally tested, with serial number, photo and documentation, box closed. We can scale this to hundreds of units per month, at a sharp price and with short lead times. The customer now delivers hundreds of his own products in the Netherlands, with his own name and print on them.
