PR181 module in DIN rail enclosure, front three-quarter view

4-20 mA to 0-10 V signal conditioner, dual channel, isolated, with display

Article number PR181-X003

The PR181-X003 has two channels, each converting a 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA signal to 0-10 V. The outputs are galvanically isolated from the inputs and the supply to prevent ground loops. For each channel, the lower and upper limits of input and output are set independently on the display, as is the rise and fall rate of the output. As delivered, 4 mA at the input gives 0 V and 20 mA gives 10 V.

  • Supply 9 to 30 V DC
  • Input two 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA inputs, 25 mA max.; input 1 on terminal 4, input 2 on terminal A1
  • Output two 0-10 V outputs; lower and upper limit adjustable per output

Other version: PR100s06. The PR100s06 converts a single 4-20 mA signal to 0-10 V without a display: it is set up with three push buttons on the module. The output is not isolated (the output minus is connected to the supply minus), the supply is 12 and 24 V DC (operating range 11 to 30 V DC) and the ambient temperature 0 to 55 °C. Do input and output need to be isolated, or would you rather set it up on a display? Then choose the PR181. Otherwise the PR100 is sufficient.

Setup

  1. Connect the module according to the terminal table and switch on the supply.
  2. Bring input 1 to its lowest value, for example 4 mA. In the menu, select IN1 – Set minimum, press OK, select YES and press OK again.
  3. Bring input 1 to its highest value, for example 20 mA. Select IN1 – Set maximum and confirm in the same way.
  4. Set up input 2 in the same way with IN2 – Set minimum and IN2 – Set maximum.
  5. Set the limits of output 1 with OUT1 minimum adj and OUT1 maximum adj: change the value with UP and DOWN and confirm with OK.
  6. Set the limits of output 2 in the same way with OUT2 minimum adj and OUT2 maximum adj.
  7. If required, set the rise and fall rate with IN1 Ramp-Up and IN1 Ramp-Down (output 1) and IN2 Ramp-Up and IN2 Ramp-Down (output 2).
  8. Fine adjustment: IN1 and IN2 minimum adj and maximum adj fine-tune the input limits. Setting OUT1 invert or OUT2 invert to 1 reverses that output: the lowest input value then gives the highest output level.
  9. Go to the SAVE menu to store the new settings.

Application

  • Converting two 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA signals to 0-10 V, with galvanic isolation to prevent ground loops
  • Driving motors, pumps, valves and hydraulics smoothly with the adjustable rise and fall rate

PR181 series: signal conditioners with display

The modules in the PR181 series are set up on the display on the module, using the UP, DOWN and OK buttons. On most versions the lower and upper limits of input and output are set independently, as is the rise and fall rate of the output; the settings of each module are listed on the product page under Setup. With an adjustable rise and fall rate, motors, pumps, valves and hydraulics can be driven smoothly. On versions with an analogue output, that output is galvanically isolated from input and supply to prevent ground loops. New settings are stored through the SAVE menu. The standard DIN rail enclosure measures 45 x 83 mm (board 42.6 x 72 mm); versions with more terminals are wider. Most modules run on 9 to 30 V DC at -25 to 55 °C, non-condensing.

For some conversions there is also a version without display and without galvanic isolation in the PR100 series: it is set up with push buttons and runs on 12 and 24 V DC (operating range 11 to 30 V DC). Where one exists, it is listed on the product page under Other version.
