PR159 module in DIN rail enclosure, front three-quarter view: four blue trimmers, fuse and screw terminals

±10 V to two PWM outputs, isolated input

Article number PR159s25

The PR159s25 converts a -10 to +10 V signal into two high-side switched PWM outputs: a negative input drives output 1, a positive input output 2. The input is galvanically isolated from the outputs and the supply. Neutral position, dead band and end positions are adjusted with the four trimmers on the module, guided by a green and red indicator LED. Together the outputs deliver up to 4 A.

  • Supply 18 to 30 V DC
  • Input -10 to +10 V on A3 (signal) and A2 (0 V), ±10.1 V max.
  • Output two PWM outputs, high-side switched: B3 and B4 with a negative input, B5 and B6 with a positive input

Setup

  1. Connect the supply to B1 (minus) and B2 (plus), the first load to B3 and B4 and the second load to B5 and B6. Connect the ±10 V signal to A3 and its 0 V to A2.
  2. Bring the input to the neutral position (0 V); the outputs are then not active.
  3. Turn the V-max and Ramp-up trimmers clockwise to the end stop. They make up to 14 turns; turning too far does no harm.
  4. Turn the V-start and Ramp-down trimmers anticlockwise to the end stop. The LED now lights green continuously, regardless of the input.
  5. Dead band downwards: with the input in the neutral position, turn Ramp-down clockwise until the LED flashes green and red alternately, then turn it back one turn. Check that the LED flashes green and red as soon as the input moves down.
  6. Dead band upwards: with the input in the neutral position, turn Ramp-up anticlockwise until the LED flashes green and red alternately, then turn it back one turn. Check that the LED flashes green and red as soon as the input moves up.
  7. Lower end position: move the input fully down. If the LED does not flash quickly and alternately, turn V-start clockwise until it does; the output is then at 100 %.
  8. Upper end position: move the input fully up. If the LED does not flash quickly and alternately, turn V-max anticlockwise until it does. The module is now adjusted.

PR159 series: PWM drivers with two outputs

The modules in the PR159 series drive two high-side switched PWM outputs; only one output is active at a time. The input side (terminals A1 to A5) is galvanically isolated from the outputs and the supply (terminals B1 to B6). Four trimmers on the module (V-max, V-start, Ramp-up and Ramp-down) set the outputs and, on most versions, the ramp rates; turning clockwise increases the value. This lets a hydraulic valve open and close smoothly, for example. The modules run on 18 to 30 V DC, deliver up to 4 A in total and are suitable for 0 to 80 °C; dimensions 45 x 82 mm.
