W181 module in compact DIN rail enclosure, angled side view: OLED display, push buttons, DIP switch and screw terminals

LIN bus to 4-20 mA, with OLED display

Article number W181A-P503

The W181A-P503 reads a value from a set LIN message and passes it on as 4-20 mA. This lets a PLC read a sensor or component with a LIN connection, such as a level, pressure or temperature sensor from a vehicle. If the message stops arriving, the output goes to an adjustable value. Message ID, position of the value and scaling are set on the OLED display.

  • Supply 24 V DC (±15 %)
  • Input LIN bus; value from a message with adjustable ID
  • Output 4-20 mA

Setup

  1. Connect the supply, the LIN bus and the output according to the wiring diagram supplied with the module.
  2. On the display, set the message ID and the position of the value in the message.
  3. Set the value at 4 mA and at 20 mA and store the settings.

Application

  • Reading a sensor with a LIN bus with a PLC with a 4-20 mA input
  • Using a vehicle sensor in a machine or test setup
  • Passing a LIN value over a long cable as 4-20 mA

W181 series: compact modules with OLED display and Wi-Fi

The modules in the W181 series are compact and fit on a DIN rail. They have an OLED display and push buttons, so they can be set up without a computer and show the current values. A DIP switch on the board fixes basic choices. Software updates are loaded through the USB-C port and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. The modules run on 24 V DC. Extensions are possible on request, such as an extra relay output, a different sensor input or a bus connection.
