USB to UART bridge on DIN rail

Some PLCs and controllers have a UART port for fault finding, data logging and tuning, but a PC cannot simply read or drive UART. The PR157s05 converts the UART signals (3.3 V) to a standard USB port. The 5 V line of the USB port is also available on a screw terminal, so other devices on the DIN rail can be powered from 5 V, up to 0.5 A. Do not connect any other voltage source to that terminal: it can damage your PC.

Setup

Connect the PC to the USB port of the module.
Connect the transmitting terminal of your device to terminal 3 (TX) and the receiving terminal to terminal 2 (RX).
Connect the 0 V of your device to terminal 1 (GND).
Use terminal 4 only to power another device from 5 V, up to 0.5 A; never connect a voltage source to it.

PR157 series: I/O and communication modules for DIN rail

The PR157 series consists of DIN rail modules. The CAN bus versions read optically isolated 24 V inputs and a potentiometer, or switch relay outputs (24 V DC, 5 A) with separate NO, COM and NC terminals per output; status LEDs show the state of each input or output. Terminate both ends of the CAN bus network with 120 Ω: fit jumper JP1 on the module at the end of the network. More inputs or outputs, or control via RS485 and Modbus instead of CAN bus, are available on request for these versions.
